Tori Nichel launched Maison Black in October 2021 garnering press from VOGUE.COM, WWD and THE WASHINGTON POST for being a catalyst for change in the fashion industry. Tori Nichel’s vision for Maison Black is for the e-tailer to be a global enterprise with curated shopping experiences. Tori Nichel is shifting culture, disrupting industry complacency with an accelerated mission to bridge community and commerce. Tori Nichel is committed to ensuring inclusivity and equitable opportunities in the fashion industry that ensure sustainability for Black designers to stand the test of time, while offering the ease of findability of Black designers. Tori Nichel is a womenswear designer, executive design leader and entrepreneur. Her astute business acumen paired with her extensive design background and leadership makes her a triple threat. She is a Virgil Abloh Post__Modern Scholar Mentor which is further testament to her commitment to ensuring all Black creatives have access to resources & networks to set them up for success. Her unwavering commitment to paying it forward to the next generation of Black design talent is seen through her advocating for equitable opportunities in career advancement and business funding as well as creating mentorship and apprenticeship programs. Tori Nichel has led national brands driving sales volume over a half billion dollars annually. She has successfully launched and re-invented brands such as Kenneth Cole, Tibi and celebrity brand Jennifer Lopez. Tori Nichel has been recognized by WWD, FORBES and ELLE as a “Designer to Watch,” with her namesake collection Tori Nichel.
