
Shawna McGee

Inspired by her seamstress mother, McGee studied fashion design at Cass Technical High School in her hometown of Detroit Michigan and then Parsons School of Design in New York City, upon earning a full scholarship.
Shawna’s design experience has included sportswear to accessories for Donna Karan and Louis Dell’Olio for Anne Klein, sleepwear for Ralph Lauren Sleepwear, and dresses for Adrienne Vittadini and Maggy London. Her work has appeared in magazines such as WWD, Elle, Essence and Vogue.
Shawna has also designed costumes for Nell Carter on the television hit show “Gimme a Break” and for stars Donna Summer, El DeBarge and Kenny Rogers for JC Penney. In addition to designing, she has taught the next generation of design talent at her alma mater Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Shawna currently continues to move the needle in fashion as a designer and illustrator at the helm of her namesake line S.MCGEE COLLECTION developed in her hometown of Detroit.
